We also have another listing for a kit that mounts on the frame rail, letting you keep your cruise control. This kit uses the genuine IGN1A coil (same as AEM smart coil 30-2853 but without the rebranded AEM sticker) which provides a lot more spark than the factory coil. Factory RX-7 ignition coils are now 25 years old and not only are the factory coils dying but they're expensive.

The good news is that coil improvements have been made since then and we can use the IGN1A coils to replace and upgrade the failing factory coils. This kit allows you to replace and upgrade the coils completely with a bolt-on coil mount, NGK wires, and a plug-n-play coil harness. This kit simply plugs in to the factory harness. You just plug it in to the factory ignitor connector and connect power and ground at the battery with the two connectors on the harness. The harness has a built-in relay and fuse, and uses thick 10 awg wire. The mounting bracket uses factory holes where the cruise control module resides. If you still have cruise control on your car, then you will want our other kit which mounts the coils on the frame rail, also using factory holes. We have a YouTube video to guide you through installation. Search YouTube for "DriftinJim IGN1A" and the two videos will show up. The kit comes with (4) genuine IGN1A coils (See picture 3), a bolt-on bracket, the plug-in harness, NGK plug wires, and instructions. Everything you need for a plug-n-play install. You will want to use a Datalogit to change the Apexi PowerFC settings to get the most out of these coils. If you have another standalone that uses the factory wiring harness/ignitor, then this kit will work for you as well. The new settings are provided and it just takes a couple minutes. Typical results you will notice right away are strong starting, a more solid idle, and more power on boost and high RPM. Plus, you are no longer relying on a 25 year-old coil.
